- Barbara: Derived from Greek βαρβαρος (barbaros) meaning "foreign". I am a transplant from Germany living in Massachusetts and - true to my name - I am neither at home here nor there. Also, developed on the Barbary Coast of North Africa, the Barb is a desert horse with great hardiness and stamina.
